This is registration for full participation. I will demo and instruct. Critique and work with you while you paint. This is a hands on class.
Please note: the zoom link and information to get the most from this workshop will be mailed out upon registration. A reminder will be sent two days before.
This is a virtual workshop. it is best done with a large screen as possible to see.
You may also need a tablet or phone to take and email photos although I am working on a solution to that
Please have some scrap paper to practice brush strokes on.
Good lighting is important. I must be able to see your painting. the light should be on the painting not behind.
Your easel should be set up straight, not at an angle

The workshop will run 10 am to 4pm each day with coffee & lunch breaks. As zoom is new for many we will adapt as necessary
Day 1 please log in 15 minutes prior to workshop
We will start with a brief talk about subject - muse and inspiration and how to see it and bring that forward in your work. the definition of good composition, value , colour and line. I will explain the palette I use and why. the surface I use and why and the best setup for painting.
I will paint in stages allowing the class working time between. I will start by demonstrating my value sketch ( on the surface), then we will block in the colour and begin working up the subject.
Day 2 will be finessing values, colour and details. Adding those little marks that make a painting sing. I will talk about varnishing, storing and presenting your work. If time allows we will do a class critique and/or have a discussion on promotion and social media.

Beginner painters should work from my image. I will provide a digital image.
Intermediate to advanced painters should work from their own similar images. please note that images should be SIMILAR. I cannot teach you a concept of your image is different. If you're not sure you can email me your image. Often there are compositional issues with your images. These can cause issues no matter how well you paint. Contact me if you're not sure.
I work and teach in oil with odourless mineral Spirits. You will NOT get the same affects as myself working on CANVAS or with acrylic. But I will help you along. Acrylic are best used with an extender such as Air Brush medium. I recommend working in Acrylic on Canvas.
I will paint a 36 X 36 or similar Size.
if you are a slower painter or a novice please use a 30 x 30. you may not have time to cover ground with a larger surface
